PJs Oysterbar on The Hudson
Concept Description:
If you live in New York, P.J. Clarke’s needs no introduction. That’s because it’s not only one of the oldest bars in the city, it’s also perhaps the most legendary with the best burgers in Manhattan. This classic establishment showcases their famous high quality fresh oysters and clams with a feature Oyster Bar at their On The Hudson Location.
Project Description:
P.J. Clarke’s is excited to introduce a new Oyster Bar with amazing views of the Hudson River to their Brookfield Place location. The+/- 1,890 square foot addition was designed by Celano Design Studio Co. to create a modern, fresh oyster bar with the classic P.J. Clarke’s charm. This seamlessly blends modern aesthetics with the timeless ambiance that has made P.J. Clarke’s a cherished establishment guests know and love for generations.
The overall space is wrapped in whitewashed brick walls and worn oak wood tongue-and-groove wall planking. Hanging throughout the space are nautical inspired decorative light fixtures, hand written signage with the days offerings and antique mirrors creating a vintage-modern and comfortable yet elevated feel. Upon arrival guests can grab a seat at one of the navy or cognac leather tufted barstools or in a signature P.J. Clarke’s plush channel tufted banquette.
Anchoring the space is the feature bar with wood-fire oven and decorative bottle shelving above. The bar sits atop black and white striped tile on the floor and is clad in a beautiful decorative blue tile. Hovering over the bar is a large brass and oak wood bottle display shelving illuminating the bottles and ceiling above creating a dynamic glow in the space. In the center of the bar is a feature wood-fire oven clad in blackened metal and brass details engaging guests in the sights, smells and sounds of cooking the fish, vegetables and breads, just to name a few items being prepared here.
Hanging above the oven along the tall back wall you will find a custom neon sign and custom graphic art work that represent the food and beverage menu and the special offerings of the day which is celebrating the maritime spirit of P.J. Clarke’s. Whether you prefer enjoying freshly shucked seafood at the bar or on the waterside plaza during warm weather, P.J. Clarke’s Oyster Bar offers a delightful experience.
Vincent Celano, Principal at Celano Design Studio Co. notes, it’s always a pleasure working and collaborating with Phil Scotti who as a legend and veteran in the world of hospitality was hands on with the design team in developing Hudson Oyster Bar, his direction and vision much like the original PJ Clarke’s concept was always about making the customer feel like this was a place you went to many years ago and still are coming back to.
